Lara Croft

Recently I have been reading and hearing rumors that there is a new Tomb Raider movie in the works.  As we all know, Angelina Jolie played the title character, Lara Croft, in the first two films.

Supposedly the third film is going to be a prequel to the first two.  A lot of the online rumors are suggesting that Megan Fox will star as Lara Croft, replacing Angelina Jolie.  I could see that.  I think aside from the fact that Megan does remind me of a younger version of Angelina, it seems to be a fitting part for her.  The only thing holding me back from wanting Megan to play Lara Croft?  She is a bit too thin!  I don’t necessarily think she is too skinny in general, but too skinny for the Lara Croft role.  Lara Croft is a hard-bodied, rough, fighter chick.  Not skinny and scrawny.  And lets face it, Megan is pretty dang skinny!  And I don’t mean that in a negative way. 

For my taste she in not too thin.  I think she looks good.  I know there are people out there who do think she is too thin.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  But there is no denying one thing:  this girl is totally gorgeous.  I would even go as far as using the b-word for her.  Beautiful.  Seriously, she is.  I don’t like it when I hear people say “oh, she’s not even pretty.”  It’s like, come on.  It is okay if you don’t care for her as an actress, but HELLO!  Have ya seen her?!  Girl is b-e-a-utiful!!

Don’t hate, people.  Don’t hate.  There is no denying her gorgeousness. 

Anyhoo, back to my original topic:  Tomb Raider.  I saw the first film and enjoyed it enough.  I didn’t love it, but it did keep me entertained.  I didn’t see the second one, and if there is a third one, I probably won’t watch that one either.  But I am interested to see who will be cast as Lara Croft.  I don’t think the film critics cared for either of the first two films, but I do think they were big money makers at the box office.  Which leads me to believe that, yes, there will be a third film.  Onto the important stuff.  Who (besides Megan) would make a great Lara Croft?  This is a tough question.  There are a few names I want to throw out there, although I am not really certain any one of them is the exact fit for the role.  Potential Lara Croft candidates:

1.  Olivia Munn

 

I don’t know too much about this chick except that she is pretty and sexy and kind of reminds me of Audrina Patridge.  I could see her as a gun-wielding Lara Croft, no problem. 

2.  Kate Beckinsale

An obvious choice, right?!  She totally kicked ass in the Underworld movies and she would kick even more ass as Lara Croft.  The only thing holding me back from wanting Kate for the part is her age.  If in fact the new Tomb Raider film is going to be a prequel, then Kate might be slightly too old for the role.  She’s smokin’ hot, though!

3.  Emanuelle Chriqui

Emanuelle is mostly known for her roles in You Don’t Mess with the Zohan  and HBO’s Entourage.   Love that movie and love that show, so naturally I really like her!  Lara Croft would be a different role for her, but I would like to see her do something new, something maybe a bit more challenging. 

4.  Evangeline Lilly

Another beauty!!  (I must have a “thing” for girls with dark hair!) As my sister would tell you, Lost is one of the best shows, like, of all time!  I have never watched it, but I do think Evangeline is super pretty and I could totally see her in a powerful-female lead role!  Fun little fact about Evangeline….way back before she was famous, she used to do those late-night “Live Links” sexy phone-call commercials!  It’s true!  I remember seeing one and being like, “hey, that is that girl from Lost!”  And I saw her talk about it in an interview, too!  Weird, right?!

5.  Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde sorta reminds me of Megan Fox, just slightly less pretty.  I have the same issue with Olivia as I do with Megan.  I think she could totally rock the Lara Croft role, but she is slightly too thin, in my opinion.  Again, I mean too thin for the role.  Otherwise she is great! 

6.  Mila Kunis

As you already know, I LOVE Mila!!  Love her!  So gorgeous!  I think she is a great candidate for the Lara Croft role!  Move over Meg Griffin, it’s time for Mila to switch it up!

7.  Jessica Biel

I am not a fan of Jessica Biel.  I think she is a bad actress and I think she is too muscle-y.  But I do think she is pretty.  For some reason, it seems like she would be a drag to hang out with IRL (in real life).  She seems like she would be a party poop.  Maybe that’s why I don’t care for her.  Not really sure.  But because she is super-fit and buffed out, she could do Lara Croft.  Actually, I think she would make a pretty decent Lara.

8.  Rose Byrne

I recently did a post about Rose and it got me thinking……I could see her as Lara Croft.  She kind of has that femme-fatale look about her, so I could totally see her rocking a pair of leather boots and carrying a gun and kicking ass!! 

What do you think of my selections?!  Agree or disagree?  Anyone I overlooked?  As I said before, these are just people who popped into my mind as potentials for the Lara Croft role.  I want to hear your thoughts and input!
