Today was only the second day of the NFL Draft, but for my family, today was THE DAY. Today was the day we had all been anticipating. The day we were all waiting for. And what an incredible day it was. It is almost too amazing to describe. It is now official: my brother-in-law Colin has made it. He was drafted into the NFL by the San Francisco 49ers. He is now a professional football player, playing for a team that boasts past players such as Steve Young and Joe Montana. How completely amazing is that?! Not many people are fortunate enough to be able to say that.
And it all happened so fast! The day started out with video game playing….
In the beginning it was just the brothers playing, but eventually a couple more people joined in. Colin just loves sitting in the middle of the room right in front of the TV!! Apparently that’s how he “concentrates”…..
Then, some hanging out….Rickmeister, Ky-Ky and Colin….love to gather in the kitchen!
We then turned on the television and settled in the living room to wait for “the call”…..and when that call came Colin immediately started smiling from ear-to-ear! And that smile didn’t leave his face for the rest of the day. Madness errupted in the living room! Everyone was high-fiving and hugging Colin! A few people even burst into tears, and I have to admit, I almost cried too! All of these feelings just come over you so suddently: happiness, excitement, relief, joy, etc…..it’s amazing. Really amazing.
