Late Show with David Letterman: Krysten Ritter in Reem Acra

Celeb:  Krysten Ritter

Designer:  Reem Acra (dress),  Jimmy Choo (pumps)

Event:  Late Show with David Letterman, New York City

Verdict:  I love this emerald-green Reem Acra dress on Krysten!  She looks stunning!  The details on this dress are great, too: the floral sleeves and the knotted waist are so simply and pretty.  And I love that she paired animal-print Jimmy Choo pumps with this dress!  This look is classic and chic, but the animal print shoes and red lips add an unexpected twist!  Krysten is absolutely adorable!  I love this whole ensemble!  A+!

‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ Screening: Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Reem Acra

Celeb:  Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Designer:  Reem Acra

Event:  ‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ Screening, Los Angeles

Verdict:  Wowzers!  I think Jenna looks insanely hot in this Reem Acra illusion dress!  I absolutely love the sheer piece of fabric at the top and the jeweled sides of the dress.   The sheer panels on the sides start out just that-sheer.  But they then discreetly turn nude….which only adds to the sexiness of this dress.  Jenna looks completely glamorous and chic.  Metallic gold sandals, nude lips and a pretty up-do complete this lovely look.  A+!

Nail Polish Review: Essie No More Film

Today’s manicure is brought to you by Essie! ‘No More Film’ is the color!

Essie’s No More Film

This polish is amazing!  The color, I mean.  This is a deep purple-blue kind of color.  When I first bought this polish, I thought it was a midnight-blue color, but on my nails it is much more purple….a very dark purple.  When you see it on you don’t immediately think ’purple’….it just looks sort of dark.  But when you really look at it you see how the color shifts from dark blue to purple.  Really quite lovely.  Now, for the downside.  I thought the formula was very poor.  I felt like the first coat was very clumpy….like the polish was very thick.  I had a hard time getting an even coat, without big, thick glue-like spots on my nails.  I let the first coat dry completely before applying the second coat.  With the application of the second coat, the thickness of the polish didn’t seem quite as bad.  The color is very rich, but because the application was difficult, it was hard to have a nice, opaque application with the first coat….which is why I went for a second coat.  After the second coat was all done, the color looked perfect.  Nice and even.  And this polish is crazy-shiny!  You could get away without a top-coat.  I applied my Essie All in One Base coat, two coats of No More Film and Seche Vite on top.  The first day I wore this manicure I got multiple compliments!  Actually, I was shopping in the nail polish section of Neiman Marcus and I asked a salesperson about a Deborah Lippmann polish and she just went crazy over my Essie manicure!  She liked it so much that she had a co-worker come over to see my nails!  So, there you have it.  No More Film is an outstanding color…but the formula is lacking, IMO.  Even still, I will definitely wear this manicure again!

Celeb:  Ashley Greene

Designer:  Roland Mouret

Event:  Variety’s 4th Annual Power of Women Event, Los Angeles

Verdict:  Like, I said….hello new girl crush!  I love this red knee-length Roland Mouret dress on Ashley!  She looks amazing!  So chic and classy, but she absolutely does not look like she is trying too hard.   Plus, this dress fits her perfectly….it looks like it was made just for her.  Nude lips, nude pumps and a light-colored python-print clutch provide the perfect accessories.  A gorgeous smile and shiny locks complete this lovely look.  A+!

What do you think?  Do you like this red-hot Roland Mouret dress on Ashley?  Love it or loathe it?  Yay or nay?

Nail Polish Review: Butter London Sprog

Nail polish seems to be all the rage right now.  I mean, like, nail polish has literally taken over the makeup/beauty world.  It’s everywhere.  And for me personally, this is great because I have been a long-time fan of nail polish.  And when I say long-time, I am not exaggerating.   My personal polish collection probably totals somewhere around two-hundred bottles.  Yeah.  Two-hundred.  And it’s still growing.  What can I say?  I’m a polish-addicted, glitter-loving, manicure ADDICT.  There.  I said it.  I’m addicted to nail polish….and I know I’m not alone.

Because I own so much polish, I try to do my nails at least 3 times a week.  Sometimes more, sometimes less.  Many times I will go an entire week with the same manicure, simply because I just do not have the time to do my nails.  And there are some weeks when I re-do my manicure every single night.  So, I decided I am gonna share some of my nail madness with you guys.  If you follow me on Instagram ( lindsaykaep  is my username) then you already have some insight into my nail polish filled world.  I like to take pictures of my polished, pretty nails and share ‘em!

So, I am going to try and incorporate a sort of ‘manicure-of-the-day’ section to CandyBarbie.  It won’t be daily…so think more along the lines of ‘manicure-of-the-week’  :)

And it starts….N-O-W!

Nail Polish Review:  Butter London ‘Sprog’

‘Sprog’ was only my second time wearing a Butter London polish.  A couple of weekends ago I went to Ulta and picked up 3 polishes: Sprog, Hen Party and No More Waity, Katie.  All by Butter London.  I wore Hen Party first….and I will save that for a later review.  So, as I said, Sprog was only my second experience with Butter London.  I absolutely love the color of this polish!  The photo isn’t really accurate, though, I do have to admit.  In real life, this polish is not nearly as vibrant as it is in the photo.  But, I don’t mean that in a bad way.  IRL, it is actually more of a pale-ish periwinkle blue.  Not bright blue like the photo suggests.  It is still a really lovely color, though!  At $14 per bottle, I was a bit weary.  That is pricey for polish, especially as I had never worn the brand before.  But I am glad I bought it!  I really like it….this will most certainly be a repeat manicure.  The formula was okay.  Not the best, but definitely not the worst.  It was mildly sheer with just one coat, but became perfectly opaque with two coats.  I used Essie All in One Base as my base coat and finished off this mani with a coat of Seche Vite.  Overall, a very nice manicure.  I actually got several compliments on this color….but removed it after only two days to try something else!  As I said, though, I will use it again.  The best part about this polish, IMO, is the fact that it is a fun, playful color, but still really chic and classy.  I mean, when you think of blue nails, you don’t think that is a polish color that would be appropriate for, say, a wedding.  But it totally would be!  It’s a great shade/pop of color without being too loud or obnoxious.  I would recommend this polish anytime, anywhere.  ;)
