Nail Polish Review: Butter London Sprog

Nail polish seems to be all the rage right now.  I mean, like, nail polish has literally taken over the makeup/beauty world.  It’s everywhere.  And for me personally, this is great because I have been a long-time fan of nail polish.  And when I say long-time, I am not exaggerating.   My personal polish collection probably totals somewhere around two-hundred bottles.  Yeah.  Two-hundred.  And it’s still growing.  What can I say?  I’m a polish-addicted, glitter-loving, manicure ADDICT.  There.  I said it.  I’m addicted to nail polish….and I know I’m not alone.

Because I own so much polish, I try to do my nails at least 3 times a week.  Sometimes more, sometimes less.  Many times I will go an entire week with the same manicure, simply because I just do not have the time to do my nails.  And there are some weeks when I re-do my manicure every single night.  So, I decided I am gonna share some of my nail madness with you guys.  If you follow me on Instagram ( lindsaykaep  is my username) then you already have some insight into my nail polish filled world.  I like to take pictures of my polished, pretty nails and share ‘em!

So, I am going to try and incorporate a sort of ‘manicure-of-the-day’ section to CandyBarbie.  It won’t be daily…so think more along the lines of ‘manicure-of-the-week’  :)

And it starts….N-O-W!

Nail Polish Review:  Butter London ‘Sprog’

‘Sprog’ was only my second time wearing a Butter London polish.  A couple of weekends ago I went to Ulta and picked up 3 polishes: Sprog, Hen Party and No More Waity, Katie.  All by Butter London.  I wore Hen Party first….and I will save that for a later review.  So, as I said, Sprog was only my second experience with Butter London.  I absolutely love the color of this polish!  The photo isn’t really accurate, though, I do have to admit.  In real life, this polish is not nearly as vibrant as it is in the photo.  But, I don’t mean that in a bad way.  IRL, it is actually more of a pale-ish periwinkle blue.  Not bright blue like the photo suggests.  It is still a really lovely color, though!  At $14 per bottle, I was a bit weary.  That is pricey for polish, especially as I had never worn the brand before.  But I am glad I bought it!  I really like it….this will most certainly be a repeat manicure.  The formula was okay.  Not the best, but definitely not the worst.  It was mildly sheer with just one coat, but became perfectly opaque with two coats.  I used Essie All in One Base as my base coat and finished off this mani with a coat of Seche Vite.  Overall, a very nice manicure.  I actually got several compliments on this color….but removed it after only two days to try something else!  As I said, though, I will use it again.  The best part about this polish, IMO, is the fact that it is a fun, playful color, but still really chic and classy.  I mean, when you think of blue nails, you don’t think that is a polish color that would be appropriate for, say, a wedding.  But it totally would be!  It’s a great shade/pop of color without being too loud or obnoxious.  I would recommend this polish anytime, anywhere.  ;)
