Last night Lindsay Lohan was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. And I have to say, I was sorta impressed by her. Let me start by saying that I have never been a huge Lindsay Lohan fan. Sure, I like Mean Girls just as much as the next person. But has LiLo really done anything else noteworthy since then? I think not.
Over the last few years the only thing noteworthy that I remember about Lindsay are the wild nights she had with then-girlfriend Samantha Ronson. And, of course, all the dirty details that go along with that: drugs (cocaine!), alcohol (DUI!) and sex(she’s bisexual?!). And it seems to me that Lindsay’s parents are those parents who really push their children into the spotlight. Almost like mom and dad really want to be famous, so they have to live through their kids to do so. Pretty messed up and sad.
But last night on The Tonight Show Lindsay spoke very well. She sounded intelligent and poised. She didn’t seem nervous and answered each one of Jay’s questions just like a professional! I was impressed! Two things in particular stood out in my mind from Lindsay’s interview last night: 1. She didn’t say anything negative about her dad. Jay asked about her father, Michael Lohan, and how things were going between them. Instead of bashing him and labeling him a “bad dad, “ she just smiled and said “I plead the 5th.” And 2. When asked about the recent ruling on her felony charge (which I believe was reduced to a misdemeanor) she basically said she thought the courts were fair and she deserved whatever punishment was coming to her. And she went on to say that yes, she has made some poor choices in the past and has put herself in some less-than-desirable situations and wants to learn from those mistakes. She is ready to put all of that behind her and face the consequences of her actions. She wants to take responsiblity for what she has done and turn her life around.
Jay asked her where she thought she might be ten years from now. She replied by saying in ten years time she hopes to be sitting right there on Jay’s couch after winning her first Oscar. That may be a bit far-fetched, but hey, at least the girl has goals! Gotta give credit where credit is due!
Happy Wednedsay everyone!!
